New Year New Faves

I'm somewhat of a makeup & hair product junkie.  What's ironic about this is that I don't even wear makeup on a daily basis.  In fact, my kids ask if I'm going to a meeting if I dry my hair and put on makeup right after a shower!
I am quick to try a new product on the recommendation of friends and
I have tried two subscription boxes, Birchbox and Ipsy.  I prefer Ipsy because I receive at least one full-sized product a month and more brands I am familiar with.  I love when that little pink envelope shows up in my mailbox!
I thought it would be fun to show you my favorites every month if I can keep it up!

new year

1//Carol's Daughter Cupuaca Smoothing Shampoo.  I tried this on the recommendation of my friend Tammi.  I love the idea of a sulfate free shampoo, but also like one that will lather a little bit.  This one is perfect and smells great, too!  I actually lucked up and found it at TJ Maxx for $7.99.  I never would have recognized the brand or even picked it up because the bottle is on the small side.  I don't wash my hair daily, so I don't mind spending a little more on shampoo!

2// Bare Essentials Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Maverick.  Also a Tammi favorite!  I love this for daily errands and have worn it over lipstick for a night out.  I am huge on how a lip gloss smells and this one is minty {not sugary sweet} to me.

3// Blow Dry Clips Not sure how I missed that these were a "thing," but I love them!  Another TJ Maxx find...I got 4 for $3.99!

4// Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara This was an ipsy box hit!  My usual go-to's for mascara are  Benefit They're Real or Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes.  This one requires several applications to compare to my other favorites, but is great for everyday!

5// Too Faced Hangover Face Primer Another ipsy find...I have tried face primers before, but love this one because it goes on more like moisturizer.  It's light and smells fantastic!

Friday Five

A. Liz Adventures
Linking up with A. Liz Adventures and friends!
 The best way for me to get back to blogging is to jump right in!

{one}
THIS keeps happening.  A great reminder for me.

{two}
These sweet boys received their Bibles with the other second graders at our church.  They were so proud and have been reading it non-stop.  We are doing our best to raise Godly gentlemen who will be leaders among their friends and as husbands and fathers one day.

{three}
I found this little glass egg crate at TJ Maxx the other day and plan to use it to display the eggs the boys will dye at Easter, but until then {and after} I plan to use it to hold earrings in my closet!

{four}
A friend was hosting a party for a company called Initial Outfitters…I ordered this necklace and love the way it turned out.  My new favorite thing!

{five}
I had to work this past week in Hartford, CT.  My sweet friend Tammi, who moved to Boston last year, drove 3 hours {after she sent her kids off to school} to spend the day with me.  I flew in super early and was at the hotel by 10:30 and she arrived by 11.  We made our way to West Hartford and found the cutest shops and restaurants.  We shopped, ate lunch, found a Marshalls and then ate dinner at a neat place called Bartaco.   Defintely a perk of the job and so fun to spend the day with my friend.

{five and a half}
I shared a book with the teachers in my session called So Few of Me.  One of the last pages of the book say this…I need to take this to heart and thought you might too.

five on friday

five on friday by mistybburton

1.  The pen aisle always gets me.  I found these beauties on a super sale at Office Depot last night.
Foray Stylemark 12 pack for $7!!!  I could not find that deal online so you may have to get to the store for this one!

2.  There is that word again.  Goodness.  I am a confirmation mentor at church this semester and this is one of the verses we discussed in our first small group.
 If you are a person of prayer, I'd love it if you would add my group of  eighth grade girls to your list.

3.  The Old Navy sweatshirt that I posted about last week was a bust.  When Old Nay went to fulfill my order they were all gone…I seriously wanted to cry.  How does that even happen?   Falling prey to the scheme that is online shopping, I ordered a few other things just to get the free shipping AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET THE DANG SWEATSHIRT.  Anyhoo,   all was not lost because this workout shirt showed up and totally redeemed Old Navy for me.

4.  I only like coffee when it's super cold out and I finally found my perfect drink at Starbucks!  Skinny Caramel Macchiato with an extra pump…I like sweet drinks and this fits the bill without all the calories.

5.  Ordered this book this week and can't wait to dive in when it arrives!  Angie Smith's book What Women Fear is one of my favorites.   Extra excited because a friend and I decided to read this together…I will keep you posted!

Happy Weekend!

{one thing I read this week that made me lol}

{one funny pic from my phone}
Nothing like finding pictures of your own wrinkly neck on your phone.
 Thanks, Hampton.

{one thing that made checking the mail in January more fun...like it was in December}

If you want to make someones day,
go buy a Starbucks gift card and send it snail mail.

{one proud mama moment this week}

{one thing I bought for myself this week!}

Toodles!

Robot Dog. Night Vision Goggles. Bug Vacuum…Yogurt Maker!

A. Liz Adventures

our christmas favorites 2

{1} My sweet SIL {sister-in-love} was listening all those times I complimented her Jenna Kator Greektown bag!  This bag is perfect for shopping with or without kids! It holds my small wallet, phone, and lip gloss easily…Mine is a grey/taupe color which goes with everything!

{2} I love these pants!  I can not exercise in long pants….I am the crazy person in shorts year round, BUT as soon as I get home these are the pants I go to!  You will love the thickness and I think they have the perfect amount of stretch!

{3} My SIL parent's gifted these Snowtime Anytime snowballs to the boys and they were a HIT!  We all have had so much fun with these.  I would say these are the perfect family gift because it truly is fun for the whole family!  The most amazing thing is that these snowballs feel like real snow!

{4} I feel 90 years old saying this, but I got an electric blanket from my parents and it has changed my life.  I made an "age" joke when I opened it because, "Hello…We're still in our 30's."  Never have words tasted so good.    With colder than normal temperatures this winter I have loved heating up my bed before crawling in for the night.

{5} I fell in love with this bracelet when it popped up on my neighbor's wrist.  My sweet brother and his girlfriend treated me with this for Christmas and I have worn it constantly.  {Have I ever mentioned that I set them up on a blind date?  I will have to blog about that one}  I love that these are adjustable to fit all size wrists and made in America.  LOVE!

And while we're talkin' favorites,
this reminds me of a quote from my
favorite character on my favorite show

Claire: You're impossible to buy for! You never want anything.
Phil[Confessional] Um, things I want: robot dog, night vision goggles, bug vacuum, GPS watch, speakers that look like rocks... I love my wife, but she sucks at giving gifts. I'm sorry for the pay-channel language, but- oh! Yogurt maker! I can't not think of things I want.

I can't NOT think of things I want!  Gets me every time!  Happy Friday, my friends!  Let me know if you try any of my favorite things!
